Binance has launched support for Ondo-issued tokenized stocks and ETFs on its Binance Alpha platform, expanding into blockchain-based equities as competition grows in tokenized real-world assets.
In a statement on its official website, Binance said eligible users can trade tokenized representations of publicly listed equities issued through Ondo’s regulated infrastructure.
The products are offered under regulatory approval in the United Arab Emirates and are not available in the United States.
The move comes as tokenized real-world assets blockchain-based representations of instruments such as U.S. Treasuries, credit products, and equities continue expanding.
Market participants increasingly see tokenized stocks as the next growth segment in digital asset markets.
How the Tokenized Stock Model Works
Ondo’s framework relies on regulated custodians holding underlying shares while blockchain tokens track their value on a one-to-one basis. Redemption mechanisms aim to keep token supply aligned with reserves.
Transactions typically settle onchain via stablecoins, enabling faster transfers than traditional equity clearing systems.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has reiterated that tokenized securities remain subject to existing securities laws. Binance said availability will vary based on local regulatory requirements.
Strategic Expansion Beyond Crypto Assets
The listing deepens Binance’s push into regulated real-world assets as exchanges diversify beyond crypto-native tokens.
Research from Boston Consulting Group suggests tokenized assets could scale significantly over the next decade, with equities representing a major share of that opportunity.
For eligible users, tokenized stocks may offer:
- Fractional exposure to public equities
- Faster blockchain-based settlement
- Cross-border access where permitted
Shareholder rights depend on the instrument’s legal structure.
Risk Considerations
Tokenized equities carry regulatory and operational risks, including potential rule changes, custodial counterparty exposure, liquidity fragmentation, and stablecoin settlement volatility.
Trading volumes and redemption transparency will determine whether tokenized equities gain sustained traction on major exchanges.
The rollout underscores Binance’s expansion into regulated digital representations of traditional financial assets as blockchain infrastructure converges further with global capital markets.
